It was weird being so far out of Sonica.
Mouse took in a deep breath, already feeling her hands shaking as she walked alongside Comet. He was walking fast, even though he was a Native and she was an Ina. She was still unsure of why he had asked her to tag along on his trip. She didn't even know where they were going. But she couldn't say no to him, no matter how much she really didn't want to be anywhere alone with him.
You could say they were friends, but then again Mouse was 'friends' with almost every Native there was. Comet was different. He was one of the oldest Natives, and also one of the most dangerous. He was ruling Gim before she was even born.
The thought made her shudder. Being in the presence of someone so powerful, even if they weren't ruling anymore, scared her. You never knew what you were going to have to do when you were with Comet: you could be running for your life or comforting him as he ranted to you. With him being so unpredictable, you had to be on your guard at all times.
Suddenly, Comet stopped walking. Mouse came to a halt, almost falling over because of how quickly they had stopped. Comet wouldn't meet her eyes, which made her think something was wrong. They both remained silent for a few seconds. Mouse didn't know where they were, but she didn't consider asking him.
As if to answer her unspoken question, Comet suddenly started talking. "We're at the Void." He said. Mouse gazed at him. She had heard of the place, of the things that went on there. But they were at the same place? It didn't even seem all that scary; just a normal forest in the middle of nowhere.
Mouse opened her mouth to speak, but at the same moment Comet leaned forward and put a finger to her lips to silence her. She felt chills run down her spine, but she didn't move a muscle. "Don't say anything." He warned her, blue eyes darting back and forth. "Somebody's watching us."
