jasmine never got up this early. on a normal day, she was lucky if she woke up in time for lunch--it was barely breakfast when she arose this morning. but today felt like a different day, for whatever reason. she dressed herself in a dress and gladiator sandals before doing her hair and makeup. she was just going to find a place to read outside, but she felt like doing this today. it would do her good, anyways, to be in something other than her sloppy t-shirts and shorts. she grabbed the book she was reading off her night stand and stole a blueberry muffin from the kitchen, then headed out for the day.
jasmine ate the muffin as she went on her way, opening the book expertly with one hand to the page she was on. she didn't even have to look up to avoid anything, she knew her town so well. of course she did. anyone would if you were just stuck here your whole life. jasmine tried not to focus on this. focusing on the fact that she had gone nowhere with her life would just upset her, and as today felt different, it was a good different. the good different as in something life-changing could happen today. well, not life-changing per se. maybe something less than life-changing. but something great nonetheless. so jasmine would stop meditating on the negative and start doing so on the positive--maybe then she could be happier. maybe then her life would seem more exciting.
jasmine had just popped into town square when it happened. the streets were never too crowded here--though some outdoor bazaars were set up here and there, there weren't too many people around her. she had just finished her muffin and was now heading to the nearest trash can to dispose of the wrapper, still not looking up from her book. suddenly, she walked straight into someone. "oh, i'm so sorry!"
she gushed in her high voice, closing her book and patting down the man's arms. "i really should be watching where i'm going," she said in lieu of the scolding that was sure to come to her. she did this sometimes, fill in punishments for people before they could do it themselves. she didn't like being punished. "it's just that i've lived here for a really long time and i know the streets, and i thought i could walk around with my nose in a book--because i know the streets so well--but..." she trailed off lamely, realizing how stupid her excuse sounded. she stared at her feet. "please excuse me. i'm--" jasmine looked up at the man's face--he had to be almost a foot taller than her at least, and she was used to this--and froze solid. he's a good looking man, she thought, swallowing and trying to catch her breath. a very good looking man. jasmine realized she had yet to finish her introduction. "i'm... i'm..." oh my god, jasmine, you've frozen up. "i'm... i'm rose. primrose. jasmine!" way to go, genius.--- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - pretty. odd of caution; words - 503; muse - fair; now playing - nothing; outfit - this.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Bay was not in the mood for conversing with people.
Honestly, he didn't even know why he was in Romula. It was probably the last place you would go if you wanted to be alone. Standing in the town square, he had his eyes closed as he was deep in thought.
If only he knew where Rowan had gone. It had been a couple days since he had seen his friend, and the leader rarely went anywhere without telling Bay. He just hoped he wasn't in trouble. Bay was the only one that knew Rowan's secret: that he wasn't entirely human like he said he was. Suddenly he had a scary thought.
What if the other Believers found out what he was? What if some Ina in Sonica ran into him at night? What if Rowan wasn't alive anymore? What if-
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"
His thinking came to an abrupt end when somebody shoved into him. He spun around immediately, thinking that whoever startled him was some big guy looking for a fight. But what he saw instead was a tiny little girl with brown hair and big eyes. 'Well who the hell are you?' He almost said, but he didn't want to make her more upset than she looked.
"Uhh, it's okay. I'm fine.. Are you okay?"

"uhh, it's okay. i'm fine... are you okay?" well, look at that, jasmine, now you've gone and pissed him off. of course, you do that to everyone. you should be used to this right now. but it's not every day you go and piss off a good looking guy, now, is it? jasmine shook herself out of her thoughts and nodded, smiling up at the guy's face. "hah, yeah, thanks for asking,"
she said. "i was just... i, uhm..." she pointed behind him sheepishly, her eyes downcast as she maneuvered around him to dispose of her muffin wrapper. she turned back to the man and gestured to the trash can. "i... yeah." she smiled at her feet, pushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "because, uhm, it'd be a bit wrong if i just left the wrapper lying around on the ground like all the other lousy..." she trailed off, realizing how stupid she sounded. shut up, jasmine. he doesn't care, are you're just going to piss him off some more. jasmine cleared her throat and walked back to his side, standing a good distance away from him in case he wouldn't appreciate her closeness. "so, what brings you to romula? i don't think i've ever seen you before," she added, tilting her head to the side curiously. she'd been seeing a lot of people she didn't normally see here these days. lucky them, she thought. they can travel. So this chick, apparently named Jasmine, lived in Romula. Good, Bay was needing somebody who could give him directions. Along with Rowan, Cricket had also wandered off. He had been visiting Romula quite frequently lately, so the town was a good place to start looking for him.
"I'm looking for somebody." Bay answered, his mind flashing with an image of his new friend Cricket. If Jasmine could help Bay find him, she might know where Rowan was too. Maybe the two had gotten together to talk or something. Hey, it was worth a shot. "Two people, actually. My name's Bay."

jasmine frowned in thought at his request, ducking her chin and scanning the floor of the town square as if she'd see whoever he was looking for running across their feet. this was a habit of hers, though--she did this often, whenever she was thinking. "my name's bay," he said. jasmine pulled her head back up and smiled, laughing a bit again. she did this whenever she was in a happy-nervous mix. "oh! hi, bay."
she reached behind her and pulled her hair to one side of her neck, tendrils of shiny brown locks spilling over her left shoulder. "who are you looking for?" she asked, tilting her head to one side. --- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - pretty. odd of caution; words - 112; muse - fair; now playing - seventeen forever, metro station; outfit - this; notes - goodness, i'm quite excited. i woke up at 1.18 and now i'm going to watch a.n.t. farm. it's a nice, lazy summer day everyone.-[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"You might have seen one of them around." Bay said to Jasmine. "He's pretty tall, blond.. kind of stupid."
Cricket was probably one of Bay's best friends, besides Rowan. Bay had known Rowan for a long time, but even though he had just met Cricket he could tell that they would get along. Even if Cricket was annoying sometimes, he never got upset when Bay accidentally snapped at him. So that was good.
Wherever Cricket was, Bay doubted he was in trouble. Or if he was in some sort of danger, Cricket could get out of it somehow. He reminded Bay of Rowan in that way- always managing to get out of trouble, even though Cricket was never really aware of whenever he was in danger.
[Blegh, okay this post was worded really weird. xD]

"you might have seen one of them around," bay told her. "he's pretty tall, blond... kind of stupid." jasmine frowned in thought. the only person that came to mind was the boy she had ran into a few days ago. he had taught her how to hunt. she supposed they were friends, but she hadn't seen him in romula since. he did have to rush home to lower sonica as it was getting dark... i hope he's alright... "you're making me think of this one guy i know,"
jasmine said. "his name is like... grasshopper or something. it's a bug." she knew this because he had wanted to call her flower when they first met, and she almost retorted by asking if she could call him bug. but she just warmed up to "flower" without asking anything in return. because she was nice like that. --- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - pretty. odd of caution; words - 145; muse - fair; now playing - nothing; outfit - this; notes - are you still online or.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Jasmine's words immediately brought a smile to Bay's face. "Cricket? When did you see him?"
He had talked to Cricket the day before, but this morning he went to go looking for him and he wasn't there. He was confident that he was safe somewhere, but Bay had to find him because he had yet to meet Rowan, leader of the Believers. Rowan's initial plan with Cricket was to send him as messenger to places they normally couldn't go, like the Void. They would send him because, as idiotic as he could be, he had almost no fear.
The one thing he hated, though, were bugs. Funny, because his name was Cricket.

"cricket? when did you see him?" cricket, jasmine remembered. that's his name. "well, i didn't see him recently,"
she explained. "well... i guess you could call it recently. but i last saw him... almost a week ago," she said, dazing a bit. wow. it's been almost a week since the peculiar boy taught her how to fish? how time did pass. something in her wanted to see him again, and soon. "last time i was with him, he told me he was going back to lower sonica because it was getting dark," she continued. the sky had been flooding with storm clouds, and he had told her that he needed to get home before it got completely dark because of some hunting that was going on there. she hoped he made it back safely. "i don't know if he's there now, because it's brighter, but lower sonica is probably your greatest bet." she didn't want him to leave right away, though. she wanted to get to know this good looking man called bay. --- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - pretty. odd of caution; words - 173; muse - fair; now playing - nothing; outfit - this; notes - i need something to do with my life.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Bay frowned. If Cricket had last been seen by this girl almost a week ago, he was long gone. And plus, he had just spoken to him yesterday. It wasn't at all like Cricket to stay in the same place for more than a day.
"I talked to him yesterday- but today he's gone. I just didn't want him to be in any sort of trouble, but thanks." He said. Looking out into the spacious town square, he realized how nice it was compared to Lower Sonica. No wonder Cricket went there so often.

jasmine gave a dismissive wave of her hand, feeling a bit bad that she couldn't help out bay more. but what could she do? it's not like she could conjure cricket up out of thin air. "so,"
she began awkwardly, "how do you know cricket?" sure, it really wasn't any of her business, as was it a pretty odd question, but jasmine tended to be pretty odd when it came to continuing conversations. she wished she could be more outgoing, like her friends, or even like primrose. primrose was a bit reclusive as well--they inherited it from rose--but she was better at this sort of thing. jasmine stifled a sigh. she was lucky she didn't say something that sounded even weirder, like "did you happen to have macaroni for lunch?"--- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - joecat of caution; words - 130; muse - fair; now playing - nothing; outfit - this; notes - julia come back i'm lonely.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Bay studied Jasmine's face for a moment, deciding whether telling her how he knew Cricket was a good idea. The Believers did need more members, and spreading the word was Bay's job. But it was also his job to make sure their name didn't get around to bad people- people who would want to ruin their plans. And even though Jasmine seemed like a really nice kid, they had just met and Bay wasn't entirely sure he could trust her.
But even though he had his doubts, if he didn't tell her the real reason he needed him, she would be wondering what was up. "Jasmine," He said, still a little uncertain about telling her. "Have you heard of.. the Believers?"

jasmine tilted her head at his sudden question. "it sounds familiar, but i can't say i know the group,"
she said slowly. where was he going with this? she had heard the name come up in one of the conversations between her mother and father that she could only sit in on if she waited outside the door. she really didn't know it was that her father did for a living--he switched around from job to job so often she could barely keep up. then again, she didn't really care--there was still enough food on the table for her and her siblings, so it wasn't really any of her business. --- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - joecat of caution; words - 115; muse - fair; now playing - nothing; outfit - this; notes - julia come back i'm lonely.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"It's dangerous- working with them. You have to be really careful about who you talk to, and about what. Because the Natives.. they're not too fond of us. I don't think they even know about us- thank God for that though. I can't imagine what they would do if they did."
His thoughts drifted back to his father, killed by some Ina (The Native who had ordered the attack wanted to watch instead of doing the killing himself) for simply asking to go back to Earth. And if that had happened when his dad tried being peaceful..
What was he saying? Oh right, he was talking to Jasmine. He focused on the young girl again. "Anyway, Cricket and I are.. members. I guess that's what you would call us. I just didn't want him to be in any sort of trouble."

jasmine pursed her lips, her eyes downcast. "oh,"
she said. "i see." well, if it's so dangerous, then why are you working with them? she wanted to ask, but she held her tongue. it even seemed like a stupid question to her. she was just curious, though. she didn't like the fact that they were working something so dangerous, but she supposed that they wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for a purpose. she almost wanted to ask what the purpose was, as well, but she guessed that all he said was all she was gonna get. she was getting better at this holding-her-tongue thing. so instead, she stammered out, rather lamely, "s-so... do you like working with the believers?" --- lyrics - SAVE YOUR BREATH, JARIKA ?! of caution; picture - joecat of caution; words - 138; muse - fair; now playing - nothing; outfit - this; notes - julia come back i'm lonely.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
